We are proud to celebrate the opening of Feydhoofinolhu resort, following years of planning and development that began with the acquisition of the island-property through AWG Consulting. This moment marks not only the realization of a landmark property in one of the Maldives’ most competitive tourism zones but also a meaningful milestone in our journey as a trusted advisor to international hospitality investors.
In 2016, AWG was engaged by Pearl Atoll Pvt Ltd, a Chinese-owned investment firm seeking to establish its presence in the Maldives tourism sector. Our mandate included market analysis, project feasibility study, and strategic site identification. Following an extensive search we facilitated the acquisition of the property through comprehensive property transaction support including property valuation, due diligence and lease transfer management.
At the time, securing a viable resort island within the core tourism zone, close to Velana international airport and surrounded by some of the country’s most established resorts was an increasingly rare opportunity. The acquisition of Feydhoofinolhu stood out not only for its strategic location, but also for its long-term commercial potential.
The island, which was previously used as a picnic island, originally spanned 4.5 hectares. Following reclamation works, the land area has been expanded to approximately 10 hectares to accommodate a contemporary island resort that blends comfort, design, and scale. Operated under the DusitD2 brand, the newly opened resort now welcomes guests into one of the most vibrant and competitive hospitality zones in the country.
